ASSUME THE POSITION

With his White Lotus Clothing line, designer Todd Shapiro has struck a compromise between urban and elegant. Having spent his formative years enmeshed in the skate scene, Shapiro was still drawn to high fashion lines like Paul Smith and Commes des Garçons, and drew upon both for the launch of his own collection. “It’s for guys who want to hang on to their street cred, but can still appreciate finer quality clothes,” says Shapiro. His debut collection of cotton and cashmere button-downs, crewnecks, and hoodies are kept casual by clean silhouettes and a dark palette but sharpened with subtle details like repair stitching and hand-embroidered graphics such as White Lotus’s emblem bird.
